چکیده

This paper describes e orts aimed at more objectively and accurately quantifying the local, regional and global function of the left ventricle (LV) of the heart from four{dimensional (4D) image data. Using our shape{based image analysis methods, point{wise myocardial motion vector elds between successive image frames through the entire cardiac cycle will be computed. Quantitative LV motion, thickening, and strain measurements will then be established from the point correspondence maps. In the paper, we will also brie y describe an in vivo experimental model which uses implanted imaging{opaque markers to validate the results of our image analysis methods. Finally, initial experimental results using image sequences from two di erent modalities will be presented.

Assessment of simulated patient motion and its effect on myocardial perfusion SPECT using two reconstruction methods (Filtered Backprojection;FBP and Iterative method) [Persian]

Introduction: Motion of the patient during myocardial perfusion SPECT could potentially results in false perfusion defects. The effect of different reconstruction methods on these artifacts is not studied. Clarification of the relation between the extent, severity and duration of motion with the resultant artifacts may be helpful in designing special soft wares for motion correction. This...

Dynamic MLC Tracking Using 4D Lung Tumor Motion Modelling and EPID Feedback

Background: Respiratory motion causes thoracic movement and reduces targeting accuracy in radiotherapy. Objective: This study proposes an approach to generate a model to track lung tumor motion by controlling dynamic multi-leaf collimators. Material and Methods: All slices which contained tumor were contoured in the 4D-CT images for...

A Simulation Study on Patient Setup Errors in External Beam Radiotherapy Using an Anthropomorphic 4D Phantom

Introduction Patient set-up optimization is required in radiotherapy to fill the accuracy gap between personalized treatment planning and uncertainties in the irradiation set-up. In this study, we aimed to develop a new method based on neural network to estimate patient geometrical setup using 4-dimensional (4D) XCAT anthropomorphic phantom. Materials and Methods To access 4D modeling of motion...

Left ventricular hypertrophy demonstrated by four-dimensional myocardiography by helical computed tomography.

We present 4D images of hypertrophied myocardium in patients with essential hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with asymmetrical septal hypertrophy, and apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy using helical computed tomography (CT) ( Figures 1 through 4). Previously, we reported on 4D CT-ventriculography, which can assess right and left ventricular morphology and motion.1 In 4D ventriculograp...

Measurement and Display of Instantaneous Regional Motion of the Myocardium

Quantitative assessment of regional heart motion has significant potential for more accurate diagnosis of heart disease and / or cardiac irregularities. Local heart motion may be studied from medical imaging sequences. Using functional parametric mapping, regional myocardial motion during a cardiac cycle can be color mapped onto a deformable heart model to obtain better understanding of the str...
